Auxiliary Chorus
Opera is a grand production and many grand operas require reinforcements for our regular chorus. The Des Moines Metro Opera chorus is made up of forty apprentice artist voices and often times, an auxillary chorus of about 25 more voices are added to supplement the sound and to make those scenes come to life.
This season, two of the festival repertory operas rely heavily on the choral ensemble. An auxiliary chorus will be added to our productions of Puccini's Tosca and Weber's Der Freischütz. What better way to spend a few of your summer nights than singing at DMMO? Male or Female singers, ages 18-80 who are interested in adding a voice to this ensemble should contact Michael Egel at 515-961-6221 or megel@dmmo.org.
Children
What better summer activity for your children could there be than to be a part of the Des Moines Metro Opera Summer Festival. Most every season has need of children in either singing or non-singing capacities. Please contact Michael Egel at 515-961-6221 or megel@dmmo.org for more information.
Ushers
Volunteer ushers are used for all mainstage festival productions and for some special events. Ushers work 1 hour prior to and a few minutes following the performance. They act as greeters and guides for the patrons and well as hand out programs and clean up the theatre seating area following the performance. Boutique Assistants
An individual is needed to assist the Boutique Manager in setting up the boutique prior to the performances, assisting with sales during the intermissions and closing the boutique following the performance. Please contact Chari Kruse at 515-961-6221 or dmmo@dmmo.org for more information.
Office Assistants
Occasionally there is a need for administration assistance in the DMMO office throughout the calendar year. This could be assisting with proofreading, mailings, stuffing envelopes, erasing and sorting music, or general clean-up/yard work.
