OPERAtion Opera
OPERAtion Opera was the recipient of a 1998 Governor's Award for Outstanding Service to the State of Iowa.
An idea . . . a plan . . . a program - in developing OPERAtion Opera 11 years ago, Des Moines Metro Opera was able to reach out to underserved audiences who welcome the opportunity to participate in DMMO's programming, but find it difficult to attend without assistance. OPERAtion Opera effectively eliminates these barriers - most often financial, logistical and social obstacles. OPERAtion Opera's success can be most effectively measured by its growth from an initial three partnership organizations to some 30 statewide social and human service organizations.
Through sponsor support to the Education Division Programs of the Company, Des Moines Metro Opera is pleased to provide all OPERAtion Opera events free of charge to participants. Hundreds of young people and adults from throughout the area take advantage of this program on an annual basis!
