One of Shakespeare's most popular comedies set in a magical wood with young lovers, fairy folk, and rough tradesmen who would be actors. Nothing could be more delightful except to add the brilliant vocal and orchestral setting of it all by Benjamin Britten - a children's chorus, a countertenor Oberon, a buffo Bottom with ass's ears in the arms of coloratura soprano Tytania. Music that shimmers, glitters, whispers, laughs and weeps by turns (and often all at once) make this opera one of the loveliest "dreams" imaginable!
